Cookie policy
This policy explains the cookies and similar storage technologies Plumb AI Ltd uses on askplumb.com, why we use them, and how you stay in control. We keep this deliberately small: by default we set only what the site needs to function.
01 What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a site stores on your device. "Similar technologies" include things like localStorage and pixels that do a comparable job. They let a site remember information between page views - for example, that you have already made a cookie choice.
02 The rules we follow
In the UK, cookies are governed by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) together with the UK GDPR. Strictly necessary cookies may be set without consent. Everything else - analytics, functional and marketing storage - is set only after you opt in. You can change your mind at any time.

04 The specific cookies
By default our site sets a single, strictly necessary cookie. The analytics storage below is set only if you accept analytics:

PostHog also uses your browser's localStorage (entries prefixed ph_ / __ph) to hold the same anonymous identifiers and, where session replay is enabled, buffer the recording before it is sent. These are written only after you opt in, and cleared if you withdraw consent. PostHog runs in the EU and is configured to discard your IP address, so it is not retained against these events.
When you sign in to the platform, authentication and session cookies on platform.askplumb.com are also strictly necessary to keep you logged in securely.
We update this table whenever the cookies we set change, so it always reflects what is actually running. If you ever find a cookie here that isn't documented, tell us at privacy@askplumb.com.
05 Managing your choices
- On this site: use Cookie settings at any time to accept or decline optional cookies. Declining keeps only the strictly necessary ones.
- In your browser: you can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site working.
06 Third-party cookies
We do not embed third-party advertising or social-media trackers on our site. Two third-party services do run in specific places: a bot-protection (CAPTCHA) service on our enquiry form, which helps us block spam and abuse, and our authentication provider when you sign in to the platform. Both are strictly necessary for those functions, neither is an advertising or social-media tracker, and any storage they use falls under the strictly-necessary category above.
If you accept analytics, we load PostHog, our product-analytics and session-replay provider, hosted in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany). It is set behind your consent, listed in the table above, and served first-party from e.askplumb.com so it behaves as part of our own site. It is not an advertising or social-media tracker. Any other third-party storage we introduce will likewise be added to the table above and gated behind your consent.
